BAST/BASTET - EGYPTIAN CAT GODDESS 42CM

Bast appeared roughly 3000 BC prior to the unification of Egypt. During this time she was a regional deity, her cult centred on the city of X. She was initially depicted either a lioness or as a woman with the head of a lioness. It was only after the introduction of the domestic cats into the region and post-unification of Upper and Lower Egypt that Bastet became more frequently used, and the symbology evolved to that of a woman with the head of a domestic cat, and eventually was depicted purely as a domestic cat. Bast/Bastet was considered the goddess of warfare, as well as the protector goddess.
